Well, the summer has begun, with the humidity claiming its stay here and the HOT temperatures rolling in. Overall, it is fairly....miserable.....which, unfortunately is really about the best way to describe it! But, actually the last few days have been super nice with some rain rolling in, making the 4th of July weekend a little more enjoyable!
We haven't been up to a whole lot. We've done a little boating with Chad's project manager/a good friend of ours, Steve and his girlfriend Donna. He recently got his new toy, aka the boat, and wanted us to come out and enjoy it with him. We rode out to Horn Island (which gets it's name for it's shape...although they tell us the shape changes with the tides and waves every year. There are a lot of different islands off the coast of Mississippi that sit in the little bay that lead out to the Gulf of Mexico....where a few are the hangout spots for the boating people. Essentially, it's like a big tailgate on the island and water....just no football game following. All in all, it's very much like the song...."Ass in the water, toes in the sand, not a care in the world and beer in your hand...."
It was a BEAUTIFUL day!

The following weekend, we participated in a "poker run" on the river/bay over by Biloxi, Mississippi. For those of you that have never been in a poker run before---it essentially is a reason to drink on a boat all day, while running around to the places on the list and getting stamps on your card to enable to you put together your best poker hand when you get back. And then there was food and live music to end the night. It was a lot of fun, but one of the hotter weekends.....so made for a long day.
