Hey there---well now that the holidays are over....and the "other" holiday, Mardis Gras, is now almost over....things are starting to slow down a bit. Our apologies on the lack of updating.....when New Year's hit, I made a resolution to try and write more...but here we are almost making our way through February....and we haven't updated since right around Thanksgiving!
Not a whole lot new to report with us. Work is going well for the both of us. Weather really hasn't been anything to complain about. And we've been able to get out and enjoy some of the big events that have been going on in NOLA.
For Christmas we were able to go back to the good life and enjoy some time in Nebraska. We made the 21hr trek from Slidell to Pierce, driving, without any problems. It was a fairly enjoyable trip...although the next time we drive I say we need to stay for longer... We got to see and spend lots of time with the family, and catch up with old friends.

In the end of January/beginning of February, New Orleans was the host to the Super Bowl. We ventured into the city and walked around one day, enjoying some of the NFL experience and the football fans.

These roman numerals were shipped in on a barge that sat right in the Riverfront. |
Along with Super Bowl is Mardis Gras/Carnival....with lots of parades going on. We've been now to a couple, and have enjoyed the experience. Mardis Gras, here, is essentially another holiday-celebrating the tradition of the "krewes", parades, masks, beads, eating your final foods before advent, etc....schools/businesses close and you're wished a "Happy Mardis Gras". I definitely have to say, if you're a people watcher, this is DEFINITELY an experience for you!
