A Slidell Saturday

Happy Saturday!

Well, everything is unpacked for the most part! We still have to hang things and make it look like a home....so will be posting picutres once we get that done.  Today is a day full of yard work and fixing up a few things....and painting our guest bedroom.  We're excited to be able to have a house and some freedom from the renter to be able to paint and do things that make it a little more "us"! Thanks to pinterest, I'll be adding a few touches to some rooms with a few DIY projects!  Can't wait....being a housewife isn't so bad!

DESTINATION reached!!

Well...after 6 states, about 20 hours of driving and 1380ish miles....we have made it to Louisiana, and our new home!  The drive was uneventful....saw lots of different country, from windmills, large factory plants, rolling hills, and swamps!  We pulled in yesterday (Sunday) about 2:00pm.

Windmill "farms" in Kansas
Some things we learned over the trip:
1. Never trust a moving company when they say they'll be there between 9-11am.  They showed up at 3:30 pm....and it took them about 4 hrs to get all our crap loaded into their truck. And we're still unsure at this point when exactly they will be here with our things.  They said they would "guarantee" Monday (today)....but as of right now I'm sitting in a hotel writing this as we speak....

2. Never under estimate how much crap you have until you have it packed in boxes and sitting in your living room.

3. Just because you're in Kansas and they are making biscuits and gravy for the continental breakfast, does not mean it's going to taste like mom's.......

4. Having family and a couple of friends help pack up our things made for more time of good grilling and drinking! Not to mention one last golf game before leaving Colorado!! :)  Thanks Bruce, Peggy, Alec and Brandi and Tyrell!

5. We enjoyed the trip together....no major fights, everyone was always accounted for....and no one left the other to fend for themselves!  Yay for a strong marriage
6. Louisiana is.....different.  Some of the scenery can be beautiful...from a distance.  Once you get closer to that so called scenery....it becomes a random swamp....

7. We are definitely going to miss those gorgeous sunsets over the Rockies.

8.  As you get more south, the bug population increases exponentially.  Notice the windshield....

9.  Dominos stuffed cheesy bread is delicious....especially after you've been driving all day for about 12 hours....and are starving....just don't order it at 10:00pm....it was at least 45 minutes before we ate it....or devoured it, I should say.

10.  MOVING SUCKS!
Even Molly was tuckered out with all the moving!

Hope this finds everyone doing well!  We miss you all!

New adventure....

Hey everyone!

Well, if most of you haven't already heard one way or the other....we have made an exciting decion as a newly married couple, to move to New Orleans, LA.

Chad has been going back and forth between there and Colorado every three weeks for the past, almost 4 months, for work, where he is working on a really big project, a VA Hospital.  He was sent down there orginally due to the lack of work that existed in the Denver area.....and instead of letting him go(thank goodness!), they decided to send him there in the interim.  Well, as time has been passing, things still weren't looking up in Denver.  He had the choice of coming back for one project that would last about 5-6 months, and then a very high possibility that we would have to do this "back and forth" stuff again...this time maybe even to Canada.  So with that, we made the decision that it would be best for us that we get to be together...and with  my job, I can go about anywhere....so here we are packing up and leaving at the end of the month!!  With the current project he is working on, we should be there for about 1-2 years.

Anyways, since we won't be back as often...we thought, what better way to keep in touch and keeping everyone in the loop from so far away....why not have a blog!!  So, here it is!!!!  Follow at your leisure....I'll try and post pictures as we make it on our journey, and get all settled it!  Hope all is well with everyone!

I think Chad got a pretty sweet deal out of this...no packing, fly home and oversee the movers do their job......
